MINI BIO:

Dark-haired, tough-looking American actor with fretful expression and slightly husky voice. Always good value as a man of action, his career traced a faintly similar pattern to that of Dick Powell, in that it followed light musicals (especially opposite Alice Faye and Sonja Henie) with a string of tough-guy roles. Very prolific from 1949 to 1956 when he appeared in a series of thrillers and colorful outdoors action films that were sometimes of quite high quality. Married Anne Shirley (1937-1943) and Gloria De Haven (1944-1950), first and second of three. Died from congestive heart failure.
