Facts about
One of the problems in doing this screen version of the hit radio series was that Freeman F. Gosden and Charles J. Correll did multiple characters on the radio program. The problem was minimized by avoiding speaking parts for the recurring characters from the radio program. The most popular character from the series, Kingfish, voiced by Freeman Gosden (in addition to Amos) was played in this film by Russ Powell.
Although Bing Crosby, Harry Barris and Al Rinker, as The Rhythm Boys, are heard on the soundtrack singing "Three Little Words", three African-American men are seen on the screen, supposedly doing the vocalizing, with megaphones disguising their lip movements so that there would not be a synchronization problem.
Credited with introducing Duke Ellington to white audiences.
