There's Always Tomorrow Overview:

There's Always Tomorrow (1956) was a Drama - Romance Film directed by Douglas Sirk and produced by Ross Hunter.

SYNOPSIS

Sirk takes a 1934 melodrama (itself worth seeing for Frank Morgan's knockout performance) and turns it into an up-to-the-minute portrait of quiet desperation. MacMurray, a toy company executive whose latest product is a perfectly appropriate robot, exists from day to day locked without love in a household that values only his financial contribution. When he runs into old flame Stanwyck, possibilities multiply in his mind but never come to pass despite his family's dark suspicions.
