The Naked Kiss (Samuel Fuller, 1964) Directed by Samuel Fuller, The Naked Kiss is an amazing film for its time and its modernity. The themes treated are serious and mature. Quotes from

Candy: Nobody shoves dirty money in my mouth.

Mac, Head Nurse: [Referring to Kelly, who, in spite of her shady background, has quickly landed a job at the local children's hospital] She came out of the clouds one night, without a single reference. I hired her on the spot.
Capt. Griff: [Suspiciously] I thought orthopedics called for specialized training?
Mac, Head Nurse: Oh, it does! Some people are born to write books, symphonies; paint pictures, build bridges. But Kelly... She was born to handle children with crutches and babies in braces.
Capt. Griff: [Still not convinced] Sounds like one of those sweet Florence Nightingales.
Mac, Head Nurse: Not Kelly, she's tough! Runs her ward like a pirate ship! She makes Captain Bligh look like a sissy.

Facts about

In Venice, Lord Byron swam all the way down the Grand Canal from the Lido in 1818, a distance of more than four miles (6.5 kilometres). His most famous swim was in April 1810 when he swam across the Hellespont, the mile-wide (1.6 kilometre) channel that separates European Turkey from Asiatic Turkey.
Samuel Fuller:  It is Fuller's hand from the left side of the screen that grabs Kelly's wig off her head in the infamous opening scene. If one freeze-frames the scene you can see Fuller's face, his eyes covered with sunglasses.
Reference is made to Kelly as 'Captain Bligh' in the children's ward. William Bligh was a British navigator in the eighteenth century, most renowned as the captain of the HMS Bounty during the mutiny. It should be noted that he was not a tyrant, as depicted in many films.
