Irma la Douce Overview:
Irma la Douce (1963) was a Comedy - Romance Film directed by Billy Wilder and produced by Billy Wilder, Edward L. Alperson, I.A.L. Diamond, Doane Harrison and Alexandre Trauner.
SYNOPSIS
Wilder took away the music from the Broadway production, but left the heart. It's all MacLaine's show as the happy-go-lucky hooker who snares gendarme Lemmon's heart when he cleans out a red-light district bordello. Adult comedy with Wilder's bawdy sensibility.

Facts about Irma la Douce
Throughout the film there are two small cars that go back and forth and are indeed the only two cars that appear in the film - one of the cars is a '53 Renault, the other seems to be a Peugeot.
Shirley MacLaine was not happy with the script, and thought even less of the film after it was finished, calling it "crude and clumsy". She was surprised to get a Best Actress Oscar nomination out of it, saying "I would have been nonplussed had I won it."
