MINI BIO:
Big, craggy, black-haired, open-mouthed American star, the forerunner of a new, muscular kind of leading man, who would take over from the lounge lizards of the thirties and be dubbed "beefcake" by the Press. His Greek-type good looks were mostly seen in open-air action yarns, and he drifted away from films after passing 45. He was often capable of surprisingly subtle and sensitive performances, and generally had more acting talent than his harsher critics allowed. Five times married. Died from cancer. Victor Mature Quotes:
Samson: You came to this house as wedding guests. Fire and death are your gifts to my bride. For all that I do against you now, I shall be blameless. I'll give you back fire for fire, and death for death!
Messalina: Why did you run? I don't think you're a coward. You had no real chance of escaping, you must have known that!
Demetrius: This is a place where men are trained to kill each other like animals!
Messalina: And men aren't animals?
Demetrius: No!
Messalina: We admire a magnificent animal who fights. Why not a man who fights ?
Demetrius: Because God did not put man on earth to destroy his own kind. Nor a woman to enjoy their agonies as they die.
