MINI BIO:
Petite and svelt, Paulette Goddard rose from the chorus, and was one of the few leading ladies 'introduced' by Charlie Chaplin to prove that she could stand on her own feet afterwards. With her verve and vivacity, she was equally at home in costume or comedy, as nice girls or minxes. She was married to Chaplin (1936-1942), Burgess Meredith (1944-1949), and author Erich Maria Remarque (1958 until his death in 1970): second, third and fourth of four husbands.
