Margaret O'Hara: Could you be apt to telling me if there's a certain Mr. Millford, the horse breeder, anywhere about?
Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: I don't rightly know what you's saying, missy. I'm here to pick up some folks that's going out to Mr. Millford's farm. A couple of foreigners.
Shawn O'Hara, Seabiscuit's Trainer: What language is this strange person talking, Maggie?
Margaret O'Hara: I'm not sure.
Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: Don't y'all speak the English language?
Margaret O'Hara: Yes, we do. Now, you listen carefully. This is Mr. Shawn O'Hara. I'm his niece. We've come all the way from Ireland. Mr. Millford's expecting us. Mr. Millford!

Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: Yes, missy. Murphy. They calls me Walkin' Murphy.
Margaret O'Hara: Walkin' Murphy?

Margaret O'Hara: Well, that's fine.
Shawn O'Hara, Seabiscuit's Trainer: Murphy! Now what part of Ireland are you from?
Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: I don't rightly know, sir. Us Murphys down here only got a casual acquaintance with the Irish.
Margaret O'Hara: Come on, Murphy. Take us to Mr. Millford.
Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: I almost forgot what Mr. Millford said.
[clears his throat]
Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: Welcome to Kentucky, the Bluegrass state.
Margaret O'Hara: Thanks, Murphy. Start walking.
Walkin' Murphy, Milford's Boy: Yes'm.
Shawn O'Hara, Seabiscuit's Trainer: Paris, Murphy, Bluegrass...

Kiss and Tell

Kiss and Tell

Dexter Franklin: [entering after Corliss says that Dexter is the father of her baby] Hi, everybody.
Harry Archer: Get out of my sight, you vile, unspeakable, shameless, filthy, little swine!
Dexter Franklin: [thinking he's referring to the previous day when he had slapped Corliss on the arm] Gee whiz, I'm sorry. It'll never happen again.
Janet Archer: Harry, please, I implore, control yourself. Murdering him isn't going to do any good.
Dexter Franklin: Holy cow. It was Corliss' fault as much as it was mine.
Harry Archer: You filthy, little cad!
Corliss Archer: Oh, Dexter! Dexter, you don't know what you're saying!
Dexter Franklin: [to Corliss] Holy cow, I asked you not to tell him. But - but Mr. Archer, it was all in fun.
Corliss Archer: Oh, Daddy, please. Please, don't kill him!

Since You Went Away

Since You Went Away

Colonel William G. Smollett: Oh yes, and another thing. I neglected to inform your mother that I like my breakfast promptly at seven. Coffee, thin toast, and two eggs, boiled, two and a half minutes, under no circumstances more than three.
Bridget 'Brig' Hilton: But golly, Colonel Smollett, we can't afford to give you breakfast.
Colonel William G. Smollett: Indeed?
Bridget 'Brig' Hilton: Even as it is now, poor Mother doesn't know what she's going to do. When Fidelia was here, the bills didn't seem so high, but now, with the way things are going -
Colonel William G. Smollett: Please. I'm quite prepared to pay.
Bridget 'Brig' Hilton: Oh. That's fine. What would you say to fifty cents a day?
Colonel William G. Smollett: That seems a bit high under the circumstances.
Bridget 'Brig' Hilton: All right, we'll make it three dollars a week. There's the doorbell. Well, let's call it a deal. Good night, Colonel.

Captain Reginald Crewe: Let's pretend we're back in India, and I'm going away with the troops for a few days. We've fought this kind of battle before, haven't we? And you never cried once when I went away, remember?
Sara Crewe: Yes, Daddy.
Captain Reginald Crewe: Well, this is going to be our hardest battle. We'll be good soldiers, won't we?
Sara Crewe: Yes, Daddy.
Captain Reginald Crewe: Shall we say goodbye like we used to at home?
Sara Crewe: Yes, Daddy.

Pvt. Jimmy Earhart: I hear you've got a brother in the service.
Corliss Archer: Um-hmm. Lenny's a lieutenant in the air corps. And I have an Uncle who's a chaplain in the Navy. My brother's coming home pretty soon.
Pvt. Jimmy Earhart: Oh, that's swell. How old is he?
Corliss Archer: Oh, Lenny's in his 20s. He's just a few months older than I am.
Pvt. Jimmy Earhart: How few?
Corliss Archer: Oh, I forget, three or four.
Pvt. Jimmy Earhart: You know, I've got a kid sister just going on 14.
Corliss Archer: Oh my, they're cute at that age. I mean, all legs and elbows and, you know what I mean. We still have some faded old snapshots of me at that age, and I was a scream.

Queen Victoria: What is it, child?
Sara Crewe: My father, they said he died at Mafeking. But I don't believe it! He may be here with the new wounded men, but they won't let me look! If they don't, I may never have another chance. Can you make them let me look?
Queen Victoria: Colonel, will you please see that this child is escorted through the wards?
Colonel Gordon: With permission, I shall accompany her personally, Your Majesty.
Sara Crewe: What... what's your name?
Queen Victoria: Victoria. What's yours?
Sara Crewe: Sara... oh Your Majesty!
[kneels and kisses the Queen's hand]
