Quotes from
Chevalier Fabien des Grieux:
[to his fellow prisoners on the prison ship] You were men - andyou have let them make animals of you!
The Landlady: [to Manon] You're a fool to waste yourself on a pauper. Fancy baggage like you should fetch a fancy price.
André Lescaut: [to the Apache] She happens to be my sister, good comrade - and much too frail to please a robust fellow like you.

Facts about
This film was restored jointly by the UCLA Film and Television Archive (which had a copy of the print and soundtrack) and the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film (which provided some picture elements). It was shown on the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) channel in 2006 and has a running time of 111 minutes plus another minute for restoration credits.
The working title of "Manon Lescaut" was changed, because an Ufa film with that title opened in New York 29 November 1926.
After "The End" appears on the screen, the entire Vitaphone Symphony Orchestra and its conductor (Herman S. Heller) appears on the screen, partly in closeup, for about 15 seconds. The New York Times reviewer of 4 February 1927 noted that the Vitaphone synchronization process was so good that he, and probably most of the audience, had forgotten that there was no orchestra in the pit. When the orchestra and conductor were shown onscreen, the surprised audience loudly cheered.
