According to a 1954 Daily Variety news item, Twentieth Century-Fox bought the rights to Wilbur Daniel Steele's novel prior to its publication.
This movie was originally meant to be an Elvis Presley vehicle, but Fox refused to pay the $250,000 plus 50 percent of the profits that Elvis' manager asked (they had offered $150,000 plus 50 percent).
Not seen on U.S. television since 1987.
