The Plough and the Stars Overview:
The Plough and the Stars (1936) was a Drama - Black-and-white Film directed by John Ford and produced by Cliff Reid.
SYNOPSIS
A stormy relationship with RKO makes this minor-league Ford, but interesting to see his treatment of a subject he also dealt with in The Informer. This historical drama based on O'Casey's play about the 1916 Easter rebellion in Ireland features Stanwyck who owns a boarding house with her husband (Foster), a member of the Irish Citizen Army. She convinces him to resign from the group, but he rejoins once he learns he has been promoted to commander. The studio brought in another director to reshoot romantic interludes and Ford threatened to have his name removed from the credits.
