Facts about Tale of a Dog
Though it was an "Our Gang Comedy," his short was actually sold to exhibitors as part of the "M-G-M Miniatures" series so as to be able to turn a profit ("Our Gang" had, by this time, become unprofitable to M-G-M).
The last "Our Gang" short to be produced.
Although technically not an Our Gang entry in the strictest sense (released as an MGM Miniature), this film was shot on a four-day shooting schedule (October 4-7 1943). Ironically it reversed a losing trend of the series by bringing in $4,372 in rental profits. The previous four Our Gang installments lost money during their initial releases.
