Facts about

In the scene where Parnell escorts Steven into Highland Elementary School, a dubbed woman's voice says, "Mr. Teaney says you're failing his history class. I can help you!" Ken Teaney was the supervising sound editor for this film.
Exactly one week before this film aired (Monday, May 16, 1989), Time Warner Inc. had just completed its purchase of Lorimar Television, which produced "I Know My First Name is Steven." Time Warner continued to use the Lorimar Television "Lorimarble" logo (so named because the logo was "drawn" on a white marble background) for first-run network programs, with the bylines "A Time Warner Company" or "A Time Warner Entertainment Company" appearing underneath, until September 1993 when Time Warner finally folded Lorimar and absorbed it into Warner Bros. Television. Off-network programs that were syndicated by Lorimar/Telepictures at the time of "Steven"'s airing (e.g. The People's Court and Love Connection) had the Lorimar/Telepictures logo cut out and replaced by the Warner Bros. "WB shield" logo (syndicated TV prints of "I Know My First Name is Steven" - as of this writing - also sport the "WB shield" logo following the original Lorimar logo, provided one is lucky to see an intact print without the original closing credits cut out. However, on the Warner Archive Series DVD of this film, released in late 2009, the Lorimar logo is cut out entirely and replaced by the "WB shield" logo at the end).
The real Steven was paid $30,000 for the movie, but died in a motorcycle accident aged 24, shortly after this movie was released. He had two children with his wife.
