Filmed in Whitehall, NY. The town is home to not only the Champlian Canal Lock 12, the final lock of the Champlain Canal before entering the southern terminus of Lake Champlain, but also the birthplace of the U.S. Navy.

Universal, lacking a theater chain of its own, devised a 3-tiered branding system for its product: Red Feather (low budget programmers), Bluebird (mainstream releases) and Jewel (prestige productions designed to draw higher roadshow ticket prices). This system would fade away in late 1929.
