Away filming Peck's Bad Boy with the Circus, Spanky was absent from the Our Gang series from April 1938 until July 1938, during which the remaining five entries for the 1937-1938 theatrical season were shot, and also during which time producer Hal Roach sold the series to MGM. Spanky would return to the series (by then at its new home at MGM) with Aladdin's Lantern, the first entry of the 1938-1939 season.
