College Coach Overview:
College Coach (1933) was a Drama - Sports Film directed by William A. Wellman .
SYNOPSIS
A tour de force performance by O'Brien as Coach Gore highlights this sojourn into the jungle of college gridiron. The coach is a ruthless, cynical hypocrite, driven to exploit his team and win at any cost, but the film succeeds in balancing this portrayal with comic relief. Several songs, including performances by Powell (oddly anomalous in the backfield), are also included. Note early appearances of John Wayne and Ward Bond.
