Francis X. Bushman's final film.
Buster Keaton was originally cast in the role of Chicken Feather, and had played a similar character in a previous BEACH PARTY entry, "Pajama Party", but died in February 1966, and was replaced by Benny Rubin. Bobbi Shaw was also set to work with Keaton again, as she had before in "Beach Blanket Bingo."
The Supremes were originally cast in the film but had to bow out when the filming was delayed, due to prior commitments.
Among the proposed titles for this film were "Beach Party in a Haunted House", "The Ghost in the Glass Bikini" and "Pajama Party in a Haunted House".
J. Sinister Hulk appears in a monster costume during the film; it is the same costume seen in the AIP-TV production "The Eye Creatures," shot in Texas by writer-producer-director Larry Buchanan in 1965. There were other props from previous AIP releases in this film,as well as the spoof "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine" (1965), which also featured the bikini-clad Susan Hart in a rare leading role.
Originally announced in the end credits of 1965's "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine" under the title "The Girl in the Glass Bikini," this effort was initially rejected by AIP, who added new footage featuring Boris Karloff and Susan Hart in a separate subplot involving Hiram Stokely, billed as 'The Corpse.' This is also apparent in Hart's bikini-clad ghost being superimposed into scenes featuring the original actors. The final release took place in April 1966, bringing the studio's popular Beach Party series to a close after just under 3 years.
Originally, this film was to star Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. However, Avalon wanted to appear in more serious roles and Funicello wanted to spend more time with her family.
The only "Beach Party" movie to include any swearing. Princess Yolanda (Bobbie Shaw Chance) barks "Like hell!" to Chicken Feather (Benny Rubin), as they discuss J. Sinister Hulk (Jesse White)'s latest scheme.
This is the only "Beach Party" film that doesn't take place on a beach.
This was the final "Beach Party" film.
