Stuart N. Lake (September 23, 1889, Rome, New York ? January 27, 1964, San Diego, California) was a writer whose material dealt largely with the American Old West. He is remembered as the author of Frontier Marshal, a highly fictionalized 1931 biography of Wyatt Earp that served as the basis for several movies (including John Ford's My Darling Clementine, 1946) as well as the 1955 to 1961 television series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, and also did other writing for motion pictures.
The book was supposedly written with Wyatt Earp's collaboration[1] and portrays Earp as a fearless lawman.
The 1946 film was directed by John Ford and featured an ensemble cast including Henry Fonda, Linda Darnell, Victor Mature, Walter Brennan, and others.
