Vicente Blasco Ib??ez (29 January 1867 ? 28 January 1928) was a Spanish realist novelist writing in Spanish, a screenwriter and occasional film director.

One of his most popular novels is Sangre y arena (Blood and Sand) published in 1909. The novel was adapted into the film versions of Blood and Sand --- a 1916 version filmed by Blasco Ib??ez himself, the 1922 version starring Rudolph Valentino, and the 1941 release starring Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, Rita Hayworth.
