Exotic brunette leading lady in Hollywood films. Born in the Dominican Republic to a Spanish consulate official, she became the staple ingredient of Universal's Technicolor "easterns" of the war years until overtaken in popularity by Yvonne De Carlo. Married (second) to Jean-Pierre Aumont from 1943. Drowned in her bath, possibly after a heart attack. Actress Tina Aumont (1946-2006) is her daughter.
