Eileen Brennan was an abrasive, American comedy actress, with a broad, if somewhat strained smile, pitched somewhere, between Gladys George and Thelma Ritter. She was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in "Private Benjamin", but her career was disrupted when she was severely injured in a car accident in 1982, spending some time in a wheelchair.
