MINI BIO:

Distinguished Aline MacMahon was an American stage actress originally intended for stardom by Warners when they brought her to the screen. But her horsey, mournful face was obviously destined for more interesting roles than straight leads, and she proved as adept with wisecracks, as with wisdom. When her studio contract was over, she again devoted the majority of her time to the theatre. Nominated for an Academy Award for "Dragon Seed".

Although best remembered in her later years for her warm-hearted and wise maternal roles, she is also memorable as one of the wisecracking, cynical chorus girls in Warner Brothers "Goldiggers of 1933.".

Best remembered for her sweet but weary-looking moms and matrons on stage and in 30s and 40s films.

Married for 47 Years to Clarence S. Stein, an architect and major proponent of the "garden city" using greenbelts. Stein assisted in the planning of the 1915 World's Fair in San Diego and was known as the Architect of the Planned Community.
