MINI BIO:

Pat Buttram appeared in over 70 film and TV roles but is best known for his roles as Gene Autry's sidekick in over 40 films and 100 TV episodes -- and his role as the gravel-voiced, farmer-turned-salesman (or shall we say con man?), Mr. Haney on the hit TV sitcom Green Acres (1965-1971, CBS).

Buttram also did voice work for several Disney animated features, including The Aristocats (as Napoleon the hound dog), Robin Hood (as the Sheriff of Nottingham, a wolf), The Fox and the Hound (Chief, the hunting dog) and The Rescuers (Luke, the swamp inhabitant).

In 1983 Pat founded the Golden Boot Awards to honor actors, directors, writers, stunt people and other industry professionals who made significant contributions to the development and preservation of the western tradition in film and television.

Pat and his first wife Dorothy McFadden adopted a daughter together named Gayle. When Buttram and McFadden divorced in 1945 McFadden never allowed Gayle to see Buttram again.

He replaced Smiley Burnette as Gene Autry's sidekick during the 1940s. Later, they both worked on Paul Henning's Hooterville franchise ("Petticoat Junction" (1963) & "Green Acres" (1965)).

Was a guest at the 1980 Memphis Film Festival.
