MINI BIO:
A tall, dark-haired and long-faced British actor, Arthur Treacher came to America in 1926 and, in the next decade, became Hollywood's perfect butler -- complete with upper-crust voice and unflappable manner. He actually played P. G. Wodehouse's Jeeves twice, but from 1940 was less busy, and began to devote more time to television and outside interests. He built up a chain of up-market fish-and-chip shops in America (yes, Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips) at the time of his death from heart ailment.

Klara Sesemann: Isn't Heidi the funniest little thing? I'm so glad she's going to stay.
Andrews, the Butler: Is she?
Klara Sesemann: Yes, but she doesn't know it. The poor dear thinks she's going home today. But she'll be happier here, don't you think? And I'll have some new dresses made for her.
Andrews, the Butler: Do you think you could manage a new hat?
Anthony Travers: Then you have the trumpet?
Ted Shayne: No.
Anthony Travers: But you know where it is?
Ted Shayne: Nope.
Anthony Travers: What? You've just inveigled me into telling you what it is. I say that's a pretty rotten trick, old boy. That's not cricket!
