MINI BIO:
Wilfrid Hyde White was a roguishly avuncular British actor with inimitable sly, drawling tones. Almost always cast as affable upper-class fellows, but sometimes with a cunning streak, he shuffled his way with deceptive casualness through 50 years of films. He is billed in some of his 1930's films simply as "Hyde White." One of his many film roles was as Colonel Hugh Pickering in 1965's "My Fair Lady."

Wilfrid Hyde-White Quotes:
Crabbin:
[inviting Holly Martins to give a lecture at the local Cultural Reeducation Society] We do a little show each week. Last week we had "Hamlet." The week before we had... something.
Sgt. Paine: The striptease, sir.
Crabbin: Yes, the Hindu dancers. Thank you, sergeant.
Bridie: It seems a bit extreme to me locking him up like that, after all what can he do?
Catherine Wyatt: The idea of locking him up is so that we don't have to find out what he can do, Mr. Bridie.
Bridie: I don't suppose he's even got anything to read.
Colonel Hugh Pickering: Higgins, at a time like this, it's positively indecent that you don't need a glass of port.
