Tom Tully Overview:
Character actor, Tom Tully, was born on Aug 21, 1908 in Durango, CO. Tully died at the age of 73 on Apr 27, 1982 in Newport Beach, CA .
MINI BIO:
Tom Tully was a big, beefy, brown-haired American actor with a face that looked as though he had gone many rounds in the ring -- rather than having a career as a reporter, serving in the US Navy and making a name for himself on Broadway. He came to films in the war years in tough-but-tender roles that suited his volcanic features and gruffly, kindly personality. He was nominated for an Oscar in "The Caine Mutiny", after which he did have one leading role, as the prison warden, opposite Sylvia Sidney, in "Behind the High Wall". He was very busy on TV until the end of the 1960s, when he slowed his work rate.
