Philip Abbott attended Fordham University and studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse. Abbott made his Broadway debut in January 1948 in Harvest of Years, and in 1950 co-starred in the national touring company of Detective Story. His most memorable roles include groom-to-be Arnold Craig in The Bachelor Party (film debut 1957), Dr. George Scudder in Sweet Bird of Youth (1962), and his TV role as Assistant Director Arthur Ward in The FBI (1965 to 1974).
