Edgar Bergen is also the father of Candice Bergen, star of the TV sitcom, Murphy Brown.

He was honored with three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the categories of Television, Motion Pictures and Radio. Edgar Bergen's handprints and footprints were 'set in stone' at Grauman's Chinese Theater during imprint ceremony #45 on Jul 20, 1938. In addition, Bergen was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame and was immortalized on a US postal stamp in 1991. Bergen was never nominated for an Academy Award. However he won one Honorary Award in 1937 for his outstanding comedy creation, "Charlie McCarthy." .
