[she comes around the blanket "Walls of Jericho" and kneels by his bed]

Ellie Andrews: I don't know very much about him, except that I love him.
Alexander Andrews: Well, if it's as serious as all that, we'll move Heaven and Earth to...
Ellie Andrews: No, it's no use! He despises me.
Alexander Andrews: Oh, come now.
Ellie Andrews: Yes, he does! He despises everything about me. He says that I'm spoiled and selfish and pampered and thoroughly insincere.
Alexander Andrews: Oh, ho, ridiculous!
Ellie Andrews: He doesn't think so much of you, either.
Alexander Andrews: Well, I...
Ellie Andrews: And he blames you for everything that's wrong with me. He says you, you raised me stupidly.
Alexander Andrews: [sarcastically] Well now, that's a fine man to fall in love with.
Ellie Andrews: Oh, he's marvelous!

Joe Massara:: We're in love with one another. Don't that mean nothing?
Caesar Enrico Bandello: Nothing. Less than nothing. Love. Soft stuff!

Lucie Manette: You know, Sydney, sometimes it's the part of a friend to criticize, too.
Sydney Carton: Oh, when there's any hope of reformation, yes; but with me, it's hopeless.
Lucie Manette: I don't believe it. I refuse to believe it.
Sydney Carton: Oh, I admit that once when... when I first knew you, the sight of you and your home stirred old shadows that I thought had died out of me. I had unformed ideas of striving afresh, beginning anew, fighting out the abandoned fight. A dream that ended in nothing, but you inspired it.
Lucie Manette: Must it end in nothing?
Sydney Carton: I'm afraid so. But for that inspiration, and for that dream, I shall always be grateful to you, Lucie.
Lucie Manette: I feel in you still such possibilities.
Sydney Carton: No, they'll never be realized. I am like one who died young.
Lucie Manette: I'll never give up my hopes for you, Sydney. Never.
Sydney Carton: I know myself better. But, this I know, too: I would embrace any sacrifice for you and for those dear to you. Will you hold me in your mind as being ardent and sincere in this one thing? Think now and then that there is a man who would give his life to keep a life you love beside you?
Lucie Manette: Thank you, Sydney. God grant that it may never be necessary.

Sydney Carton: Yours is a long life to look back on, Mr. Lorry?
Jarvis Lorry Jr.: I'm 78.
Sydney Carton: Long life... useful one.
Jarvis Lorry Jr.: A solitary bachelor - nobody would weep for me.
Sydney Carton: Wouldn't SHE weep for you? [refers to Lucie]
Jarvis Lorry Jr.: Yes, thank God. I didn't quite mean what I said.
Sydney Carton: It is a thing to thank God for, isn't it. Tell me, if you looked back on that long life and saw that you had gained neither love, gratitude nor respect of any human being... it would be a bitter reflection, wouldn't it?
Jarvis Lorry Jr.: Why yes, surely.

Rhett Butler: So, you see I shall have to marry you.
Scarlett: I've never heard of such bad taste.
Rhett Butler: Would you be more convinced if I fell to my knees?
Scarlett: Turn me loose, you varmint, and get out of here!
Rhett Butler: Forgive me for startling you with the impetuosity of my sentiments, my dear Scarlett. I mean, my dear Mrs. Kennedy. But it cannot have escaped your notice that for some time past the friendship I have felt for you has ripened into a deeper feeling. A feeling more beautiful, more pure, more sacred. Dare I name it? Scarlett: Get up off your knees! I don't like your common jokes!

Robin Hood: Well, that's different. (Robin re-enters the window and they share an embrace and kiss.)

Robin Hood: Me?
Lady Marian Fitzswalter: You are. And when my real guardian King Richard finds out about your being in love with me...
Robin Hood: I know, he'll make me court jester.
Lady Marian Fitzswalter: He won't. He'll stick your funny head on London's Gate.
Robin Hood: A very fine decoration it will be, my bold Norman beauty.
Lady Marian Fitzswalter: I'm not bold.
Robin Hood: But you're a Norman... And you are a beauty.

Joe: [apologizing because the motor boat will only move backwards] I'm afraid it may take a little longer.
