Man:
Who do we notify if you break the law?
Slim Kincaid: Break what law?
Man: The law of gravity. Who do we notify if you fall off a tower?
Slim Kincaid: Notify the guy that's underneath me to get out of the way.

[after telling the soldiers to destroy the whiskey in Meacham's storeroom, Col. Thursday starts to leave]
Silas Meacham: I'll protest. I'll write Washington, I'll have you busted!
Lt. Col. Thursday: Mr. Meacham, you're a blackguard, a liar, a hypocrite and a stench in the nostrils of honest men. If it were in my power I'd hang you from the nearest tree, leave your carcass for the buzzards. But, as you are a representative of the United States government, I pledge you the protection and cooperation of my command. Good day, sir.

Old Man Clanton: My boys... Ike! Sam! Phin! Billy!
Wyatt Earp: They're dead. I ain't gonna kill you. I hope you live a hundred years... so you'll feel just a little what my pa's gonna feel. Now get out of town - start wandering!

[as Wyatt is leaving the hotel after taking the marshal's job, he meets Clanton and his sons]
Wyatt Earp: I'm the fella with the trail herd, remember?
Old Man Clanton: Oh, sure, I remember you.
Wyatt Earp: You was right. I didn't get very far with 'em. They was rustled this evening.
Old Man Clanton: That so? Well, that's too bad.
[Wyatt starts out the door]
Old Man Clanton: I guess you'll be headin' for California, huh?
Wyatt Earp: No, I figured on stickin' around awhile. Got myself a job.
Old Man Clanton: Cowpunching?
Wyatt Earp: Marshalin'.
Old Man Clanton: Marshalln'? In Tombstone?
[laughs]
Old Man Clanton: Well... good luck to ya, Mister...?
Wyatt Earp: Earp. Wyatt Earp.

[At his brother's grave]
Wyatt Earp: 1864, 1882. 18 years. You didn't get much of a chance did you James? I wrote to Pa and Cory Sue. They're gonna be all busted up over it. Cory Sue's young, but Pa. I guess he'll never get over it. I'll be comin' out to see you regular James. So will Morg and Virg. I'm gonna be around here for a while. Can't tell. Maybe when we leave this country young kids like you will be able to grow up and live safe.

[Carter and Croft are out with the posse]
Gil Carter: Doin' this in the middle of the night's crazy.
Art Croft: Thought you liked excitement?
Gil Carter: I got nothin' particular against hangin' a murderin' rustler; it's just I don't like doin' it in the dark. There's always some crazy fool who'll lose his head and start hangin' everybody in sight.
Art Croft: Us?
Gil Carter: Funnier things have happened.
Art Croft: Well we didn't have to come.
Gil Carter: Look kinda funny if we hadn't, wouldn't it?

[Chihuahua has just been seriously wounded]
Wyatt Earp: Mac, you and Buck go down and clean up the saloon. Put a couple of tables together and put some lights around 'em. Doc, you're going to operate.

[Col. Thursday is addressing the officers]
Lt. Col. Thursday: Gentlemen, I did not seek this command, but since it's been assigned me, I intend to make this regiment the finest on the frontier. I fully realize that prolonged duty in a small outpost can lead to carelessness... and inefficiency and laxity in dress and deportment. I call it to your attention that only one of you has reported here this morning properly dressed. The uniform, gentlemen, is not a subject for individual, whimsical expression. We're not cowboys at this post... or freighters with a load of alfalfa.
