Acclaimed actress, comedian, writer and producer, Tina Fey is TCM Guest Programmer for December: 4 Movies, December 22
Tina Fey is celebrated for her work on TV's Saturday Night Live (1998-2006), the series 30 Rock (2006-2013), and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015), as well as movies including Date Night (2010). As Robert Osborne puts it, Tina Fey is "a breath of fresh air" in the world of contemporary show business.
Fey, who says she grew up watching classic films on television and that TCM is now "a part of my home" chooses her first two vintage films because of the romantic chemistry between their leads: Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn in Desk Set (1957), and Cary Grant and Irene Dunne in My Favorite Wife (1940). Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl (1977) "hits a real sweet spot" because of its setting: New York City in the 1970s. And Fey remembers the MGM anthology That's Entertainment! (1974) which she saw in a theater at age five as "the most exciting night of my life at that time!"
