The adored "Quiet Man" star Maureen O'Hara has been heralded as one of Dublin's favorite actors, though surprisingly only ranking at number eight.
The 95-year-old Oscar winner and native Dubliner, once billed as the Queen of Technicolor, joined other Dublin natives such as Colin Farrell and Gabriel Byrne on a list that proves Ireland and Dublin's worth in turning out some incredibly talented and internationally acclaimed actors.
Stealing the number one spot was Brendan Gleeson, who was joined by one of his equally-as-talented actor sons, Domhnall, at number nine.
Unfortunately, O'Hara, well recognized for her fiery red hair and amazing good looks, didn't even rank as the most popular actress from Dublin with Oscar-winner Brenda Fricker coming in at number five closely followed by a local favorite who is sure to make her way across the Atlantic in the future, Amy Huberman.
"What's interesting to see when you look into the survey results is that Amy was voted number 6 on the strength of the female vote whilst Colin [Farrell] proved more popular with younger respondents especially women … so no real shock there!" said Douglas Brennan, Brand Manager for ODEON Cinemas.
The list of Dublin's favorite actors was compiled by Odeon Cinemas, Dublin, to celebrate the opening of the Odeon Charlestown in Finglas and to welcome back Castleknock native Colin Farrell to Dublin for the premier of his new film "The Lobster".
Nearly one thousand Dubliners were asked to name their favorite actor hailing from Ireland's historic capital city.
