There's no business like show business.
The largest ever collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia is set to head to auction in November, and it's expected to fetch millions of dollars.
The collection - which boasts over 400 items from film sets, personal jewelry, clothing and correspondence, and even property owned by the late star - is owned by David Gainsborough-Roberts and spans the vast majority of Monroe's career: Niagara (1953), Some Like It Hot (1959), and The Seven Year Itch (1955) are all represented.
"For as long as I can remember, Marilyn has been a part of my life and over many years I have built up my own private Marilyn Collection," Gainsborough-Roberts told Women's Wear Daily.
"It is now time for me to share this with the world."
Representatives at Julien's Auctions, who are tasked with moving the mammoth collection, estimate the iconic sheer dress Monroe donned as Sugar Kane in Some Like It Hot will sell for upwards of $400,000, with a pink linen halter designed for Niagara and a pair of rhinestone earrings from How To Marry A Millionaire also in the mix.
