It's been 28 years (on October 6th) since the passing of Kathryn Sermak's former boss, Bette Davis. Last month, Sermak finally published her long-awaited manuscript recounting the 10 years she worked alongside the Hollywood legend as her personal assistant.
But "The Devil Wears Prada" it's not.
Sermak says the popular film featuring Anne Hathaway playing Girl Friday to a demanding and often humiliating powerful woman (Meryl Streep) in no way mirrors the working relationship she experienced with 'Miss D,' as Sermak always addressed Bette Davis.
"That was a caricature," said Sermak, from Los Angeles, of the 2006 comedy drama. "There's an image people have that Bette Davis was difficult to work with. She was a perfectionist and would give 110%, sometimes 150%, when working on a film. If striving for perfection - getting things done right - makes you 'difficult,' then I probably am, too!"
