CULVER CITY, CA - Monday, March 31, 2014 - getTV ushers in the Easter season with the premiere of the passion play THE PRINCE OF PEACE, for the first time ever on television, on Monday, April 14, at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT, with a second broadcast immediately following at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT. Filmed during Lawton, Oklahoma's annual dramatization of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ-an event that would attract hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country, who would happily camp out to witness the spectacle-THE PRINCE OF PEACE is an intriguing snapshot of 40s era culture and customs as viewed through the eyes of a mid-20th century small town. Additionally, getTV will present special re-broadcastings of THE PRINCE OF PEACE on Good Friday, April 18, at 8:20 a.m. ET/5:20 a.m. PT, and Easter Sunday, April 20, at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT, and 8:40 p.m. ET/5:40 p.m. PT.

 

Leading in to the PRINCE OF PEACE premiere on Easter Sunday, April 20, is the biblical epic BARABBAS, at 3:55 p.m. ET/12:55 p.m. PT, starring Anthony Quinn, Jack Palance and Ernest Borgnine. BARABBAS is part of an all-day film marathon for the two-time Oscar®-winner Quinn that includes LOST COMMAND, BEHOLD A PALE HORSE with Gregory Peck and Omar Sharif, and REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT with Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney.

 

In April, getTV honors William Holden, one of Hollywood's most popular actors, highlighting some of his biggest hits every Thursday night, starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The career-spanning retrospective highlights the 1950s box office titan's diverse range, from comedy and romance, to westerns and sports, in films such as THE MAN FROM COLORADO with Glenn Ford; MISS GRANT TAKES RICHMOND with legendary comedienne Lucille Ball; PICNIC with Kim Novak; THE DARK PAST with Lee J. Cobb; and THE KEY with Sophia Loren.

 

The Network also pays tribute to one of cinema's most beloved child stars, the late Shirley Temple, on what would have been her 86th birthday, with a special airing of the 1939 classic THE LITTLE PRINCESS on Wednesday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and 9:05 p.m. ET/6:05 p.m. PT. Temple stars in her first Technicolor film, as a young girl sent to live at Miss Minchin's School for Girls when her father goes to war.

 

Additionally, getTV's Western block celebrates the 123rd birthday of hero Tim McCoy, every Saturday in April at 12:00 p.m. ET/9:00 a.m. PT. Gather up your posse and settle in for eight of the classic cowboy's best adventures. The block includes such epics as TEXAS CYCLONE and TWO FISTED LAW, both co-starring the incomparable John Wayne; as well as END OF THE TRAIL, THE REVENGE RIDER, and THE WESTERNER, among others.
