TOMORROW AT 6 A.M. PT
CULVER CITY, CA - Monday, February 2, 2015 - getTV is commemorating its first birthday with a special Twitter party and Facebook takeover, kicking off tomorrow - Tuesday, February 3, at 6 a.m. PT. Throughout the day, viewers will be encouraged to join in the celebration using #1STMovieMemory, as the network invites them to share their own personal movie stories, as well as their favorite classic films, favorite actors and actresses, favorite directors, and more. As an added feature, fans will be able to test their knowledge of classic cinema with OscarĀ®-themed trivia questions, in honor of Hollywood's biggest night on February 22.
Additionally, this month of firsts features a revamped Tuesday night block, "The Year Was," a themed celebration of cinema through the ages that spotlights a particular year each week, as getTV takes viewers back in time, highlighting the best films to come out of those eras. The theme for February is love and romance. Other notable highlights include Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in the Frank Capra comedy IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (February 1)-the first Columbia film to win Best Picture, and one of the few films to sweep the five major OscarĀ® categories; and the Howard Hawks rom-com HIS GIRL FRIDAY (February 4), starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell.
"Our viewers are extremely important to us-we take great pride in crafting high-quality classic programming lineups specifically for them," said Superna Kalle, general manager at getTV. "They've truly played an integral role in the growth and development of our brand. We're excited to be able to share this special landmark occasion with them, as they share their favorite movie memories with us."
