getTV CELEBRATES GOLDEN AGE ICON ROSALIND RUSSELL WITH AN 11-FILM BIRTHDAY MONTH LINEUP FEATURING HIS GIRL FRIDAY WITH CARY GRANT, AND PICNIC WITH WILLIAM HOLDEN, EVERY THURSDAY IN JUNE AT 7 P.M. ET

Highlights Include a Month of Classic Favorites Starring Russell Opposite Fellow Icons Such as Melvyn Douglas, Kim Novak, Sid Caesar, and Ray Milland, Among Others 

CULVER CITY, CA - Monday, June 1, 2015 - getTV honors the legacy of actress Rosalind Russell with a special birthday block featuring 11 of her finest films, every Thursday in June at 7 p.m. ET. The month-long event kicks off June 4-what would have been Russell's 108^th birthday-with the WWII drama THE GUILT OF JANET AMES, starring Russell as a grieving war widow who meets one of the men her husband died to save, played by Melvyn Douglas. Next, at 9 p.m. ET, Russell stars as Harriet Craig, a conniving housewife who uses her marriage as a means of attaining money and power in CRAIG'S WIFE, with John Boles and Billie Burke. And at 10:45 p.m. ET, Russell's icy college dean falls for a charming British professor in A WOMAN OF DISTINCTION, with Ray Milland and Edmund Gwenn.

The block continues on June 11, with the classic Howard Hawks comedy HIS GIRL FRIDAY, starring Russell as an ace reporter, and Cary Grant as the editor ex-husband who schemes to get her back; the 1943 romance WHAT A WOMAN!, with Brian Aherne at 9:15 p.m. ET; and the 1945 screwball favorite SHE WOULDN'T SAY YES, with Adele Jergens and Lee Bowman at 11:30 p.m. ET. Then, getTV presents a pair of dramas on June 18, with Russell and Jack Hawkins as spouses whose already-tumultuous home life is rocked by the arrival of a handsome tutor in FIVE FINGER EXERCISE; and Russell delivers a powerful performance as fiery schoolteacher Rosemary Sydney in the Oscar®-winning drama PICNIC, with William Holden and Kim Novak at 9:30 p.m. ET.

The month comes to a close on June 25, with a night of laughs featuring Russell as a beleaguered Mother Superior of a Catholic girls school, struggling to keep rambunctious tomboy Hayley Mills in line in THE TROUBLE WITH ANGELS, directed by Ida Lupino; followed by the 1968 road trip sequel WHERE ANGELS GO… TROUBLE FOLLOWS, with Stella Stevens, Milton Berle, and Van Johnson at 9:35 p.m. ET. And hijinks ensue when Russell's Federal judgeship is opposed by a 'Good Government' group that thinks her divorce makes her unfit for the position, sending her on a cross-country adventure full of love, jealousy, and mistaken identity in the 1949 comedy TELL IT TO THE JUDGE, with Robert Cummings and Gig Young at 11:45 p.m. ET.

Rosalind Russell's passion for entertainment began at a young age, as a student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Studying to become a comedienne, Russell parlayed her experience into a stint as a fashion model, and secured parts in numerous Broadway shows. She made her big screen debut in 1934, starring alongside Myrna Loy and William Powell in EVELYN PRENTICE, in a bit role as the woman scorned. The success of the film led to increased roles for Russell, cementing her status as one of Hollywood's brightest stars in films such as George Cukor's comedy THE WOMEN and the Howard Hawks classic HIS GIRL FRIDAY, with Cary Grant. Russell starred in a total of 51 films throughout her Oscar®-nominated career, including UNDER TWO FLAGS, with Ronald Colman; GYPSY, with Natalie Wood; and PICNIC, with William Holden; as well as appearances on countless television shows, and a Tony Award®-winning theater run. Russell passed away on November 28, 1976, at the age of 69.
