getTV Dedicates Thursday Nights to Film Noir Favorites in July

CULVER CITY, CA - Wed., June 25, 2014 - Let freedom ring with getTV this 4^th of July, as the network presents an Independence Day double feature devoted to actress, former First Lady, and humanitarian Nancy Reagan. The night begins at 7 p.m. ET, with Reagan (billed as Nancy Davis) as a nurse caught in an ill-fated love triangle in the war drama HELLCATS OF THE NAVY-her first and only role alongside husband and former President Ronald Reagan. The second billing is Nancy Reagan’s final film, CRASH LANDING, a story involving passengers reflecting on their lives during a tumultuous trans-Atlantic flight.

In July, getTV pays tribute to the incomparable Barbara Stanwyck, with a special birthday marathon on Wednesday, July 16. The retrospective begins at 11 a.m. ET with Frank Capra’s THE MIRACLE WOMAN; followed by SHOPWORN, with Zasu Pitts; TEN CENTS A DANCE, directed by Lionel Barrymore; and THE STRANGE LOVE OF MARTHA IVERS, featuring the big screen debut of Kirk Douglas.

Hollywood crime dramas are front and center with a lineup of Film Noir favorites every Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. Highlights of the star-studded event include Richard Dix in four classic THE WHISTLER mysteries on July 3; Humphrey Bogart in DEAD RECKONING and KNOCK ON ANY DOOR on July 24; and the iconic Orson Welles in THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, with Rita Hayworth, and THE STRANGER on July 31.

Spend the night with beloved leading man Cary Grant on July 18, starring in three unforgettable films as part of the Friday night Icons block. The triple feature opens at 7 p.m. ET, with Grant as a mill worker on the lam in THE TALK OF THE TOWN with Jean Arthur. Then, Grant plays a conniving showman in the 1944 fantasy film ONCE UPON A TIME, followed by his final role in the 1966 comedy WALK, DON’T RUN.

And saddle up with the Durango Kid, as getTV puts the spotlight on the Western legend every Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. The action-packed set features eight of the gunslinger’s epic adventures, such as STREETS OF GHOST TOWN (July 5); CYCLONE FURY (July 12); PECOS RIVER (July 19); and THE ROUGH, TOUGH WEST (July 26), among others.
