CULVER CITY, CA - Tuesday, July 14, 2015 - getTV pays tribute to the incomparable Cary Grant in eight unforgettable classics, airing every Thursday in August at 7 p.m. ET. The month kicks off on August 6 with 1937's THE AWFUL TRUTH, the film that established Grant both as a leading man and comedic genius, starring alongside Irene Dunne as a soon-to-be-divorced couple who go to extremes to undermine each other's romantic prospects. The 1938 George Cukor romance HOLIDAY follows, starring Grant as a free-spirited young man who wants to spend his early years traveling rather than settling down, and Katharine Hepburn as the only woman who truly understands him.

On August 13, Grant shines in a pair of classics directed by legendary filmmaker Howard Hawks, starring as a daredevil pilot in ONLY ANGELS HAVE WINGS (1939), with Jean Arthur and 21-year-old Rita Hayworth in her first major screen role; then, newspaper editor Grant schemes to stop star reporter-and ex-wife-Rosalind Russell from marrying Ralph Bellamy in HIS GIRL FRIDAY (1940). Tune in for an evening of '40s favorites on August 20, with Grant as an escaped prisoner who falls for beautiful school teacher Jean Arthur in the 1942 George Stevens dramedy THE TALK OF THE TOWN with Ronald Colman; and the 1940 period piece THE HOWARDS OF VIRGINIA, starring Grant and Martha Scott as Matt and Jane Howard, a colonial couple who attempt to start a life together amongst the backdrop of the Revolutionary War.

The month comes to a close on August 27, with Grant as a desperate circus promoter who sees his meal ticket in a young orphan boy with a dancing pet caterpillar in the 1944 fantasy ONCE UPON A TIME, with Janet Blair and James Gleason; followed by Grant in his final big screen appearance as a successful English businessman who plays matchmaker for his young housemates in the 1966 romantic comedy WALK, DON'T RUN, with Samantha Eggar and Jim Hutton.

Cary Grant was born Archibald Leach in England on January 18, 1904. He came to America at the age of 14, as part of the Bob Pender Stage Troupe. With several Broadway plays under his belt and extensive training on the American vaudeville circuit, Leach signed with Paramount Pictures in 1931-it was here that he changed his name to Cary Grant. The young star began to rise thanks to acclaimed roles in BLONDE VENUS with Marlene Dietrich, and SHE DONE HIM WRONG and I'M NO ANGEL with Mae West. But, it wasn't until 1937's THE AWFUL TRUTH that his comedic persona was established. During his Oscar®-nominated career, Grant starred in over 70 films, including BRINGING UP BABY, with Katharine Hepburn; HIS GIRL FRIDAY, with Rosalind Russell; and HOUSEBOAT with Sophia Loren; as well as the Hitchcock classics SUSPICION, NOTORIOUS, TO CATCH A THIEF and NORTH BY NORTHWEST. Grant passed away on November 29, 1986, at the age of 82.
