The Miracle of Morgan's Creek Overview:
The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944) was a Comedy - Romance Film directed by Preston Sturges and produced by Preston Sturges.
SYNOPSIS
While this celebrated screwball comedy may not rise to the sophisticated heights of his previous masterpieces The Lady Eve (1941) and The Palm Beach Story (1942), Sturges's familiar blend of fast dialogue and zany slapstick is still apparent. Hutton finds herself pregnant after a night with a soldier she thinks was named "Ratsky-Watsky or something like that" and needs to find a husband, a position that falls to milquetoast bank clerk Bracken. What follows is a chaotic assault on everything sacred in WWII America: motherhood, the military, and family values.

.The Miracle of Morgan's Creek was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2001.

Norval Jones: W-what was his first name?
Trudy Kockenlocker: You mean Ratzkywatzky?
Norval Jones: N-n-naturally.
Trudy Kockenlocker: Does he have to have a first name?
Norval Jones: Of course he has to have a first name. Everybody has a first name. Even dogs have first names, even if they don't have any last names.
Trudy Kockenlocker: Well, I don't know. I had an uncle named Roscoe.
Norval Jones: Roscoe, Roscoe, he eats them alive!
Trudy Kockenlocker: What?
Norval Jones: That - that's a snake eater's name.
Trudy Kockenlocker: Well, it was my uncle's name.
Norval Jones: Well, how about Hugo?
Trudy Kockenlocker: Oh, phooey!
Norval Jones: Well, how about Otis? That was...
Trudy Kockenlocker: Oh, phooey!
Norval Jones: That was my father's name.
Trudy Kockenlocker: Oh, I'm sorry.
Norval Jones: Well, it doesn't matter. You can call him Montmorency for all I care.
Trudy Kockenlocker: Oh, phooey!
Norval Jones: Well, what goes good with Ratzkywatzky?
Trudy Kockenlocker: Nothing!
Norval Jones: How about Ignatz?
Trudy Kockenlocker: Ignatz? You'd have to take a b-b-bicarbonite with that.
Norval Jones: Ignatz Ra-ra-ratzkywatzky. That - that fits alright.
Trudy Kockenlocker: Oh, phooey!
Emmy: [on taking out $900 from the bank in the middle of the night] It might be wrong but it would be very handy.

Facts about
One of the biggest news stories of the 1940s was the birth of the first known set of quintuplets to the Dionne family in Canada, so Trudy's set of six babies would have been an even bigger sensation. This explains why, in the montage of international reactions to the births, the Canadian Premier is quoted as saying that the news is "Possible, but not probable" in the evident hope that his nation will not lose its claim to fame. Also, the reason that Hitler and Mussolini are portrayed as receiving the news of Miss Kockenlocker's happy event with anger and dismay is because both Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy had a policy of encouraging motherhood and an expanding population in their countries, even offering cash bonuses for large families.
Premiere voted this movie as one of "The 50 Greatest Comedies Of All Time" in 2006.
