Character actor in silent comedy. He was a contract player at Charlie Chaplin Studios and appeared in a staple of Chaplin's films, notably 'The Idle Class' (1921), 'Pay Day' (1922), 'The Gold Rush' (1925), 'The Circus' (1928) and 'City Lights' (1931).
