Barred from working under his own name by Will Hays after the 1922 scandal, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle deliberately selected a pseudonym, Will B. Goodrich, that spelled out "Wlll Be Good."
Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle got the assignment to direct "The Red Mill" because William Randolph Hearst felt guilty about how his papers had attacked him during his three murder/rape trials in 1922 and ruined his career despite his eventual acquittal.
The Red Mill opened at the Knickerbocker Theatre (New York) on September 24, 1906 and ran for 274 performances. Another production opened at the Zeigfeld Theater on October 16, 1945 and ran for 531 performances.
