James Brolin's movie debut.
All of Jim Nabors' dialog was dubbed over by another actor's voice.
The film was based on the Broadway play of the same name by Henry Ephron and his wife and partner Phoebe Ephron, who were inspired by their real-life correspondence with their college-age daughter, the eventual novelist, screenwriter and film director Nora Ephron.
The original Braodway production of the musical "Take Her, She's Mine" opened at the Biltmore Theater on December 21, 1961 and ran for 404 performances.
