Allison Hayes broke her arm when she fell off a horse during the filming. Beverly Garland claimed Hayes intentionally slid from her horse in order to get out of the film. Director Roger Corman also shot a couple of close-ups of Hayes for the film as they were waiting for the ambulance.
According to Beverly Garland the first scene shot was a love scene between her and John Ireland. It was at 6:30 in the morning and their teeth were chattering. She says they had huge red biting ants crawling all over them during the scene, and the ants can be seen in the finished film.
It rained throughout most of the shoot. Many exterior shots had to be rewritten at the last minute to be shot indoors. Several exterior shots had to be done with a tarp over the actors' heads, and the score was used to drown out the sound of the rain hitting it.
Shot in seven days.
