'Diana Macnamara' was Charles Hawtrey's stunt double in the film. Diana also played the role of Princess Stephanie.

A row broke out on the set between Joan Sims and Kenneth Williams because he had been rude to her guests who had come to the set for a visit. The feud continued for three days.
No ad-libbing was allowed during the making of a "Carry On..." film, however Jim Dale was allowed to ad lib once during the film.
The characters break the fourth wall three times throughout the film: the first is when Sir Rodney first meets Jacqueline, the second is at Ffing House just after Camembert sends Bidet to follow Desiree, and the third is when Sir Rodney is with Desiree in the rose arbour.
