Tony Beckley was going to appear in this film but dropped out.
Albert Finney turned down the role of Vic Brown.
At the start of the film, Vic and some of his friends are seen perusing a magazine filled with shots of topless models. This is one of the first instances in British cinema of bared breasts.
This only really found an audience at home in the UK when it landed the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
To avoid any possible UK censorship issues due to the subject matter the filmmakers invited BBFC chief John Trevelyan to visit the set during filming. The finished product was then passed fully uncut.
