Legendary actress, Penny Singleton, was born Mariana Dorothy Agnes Letitia McNulty on Sep 15, 1908 in Philadelphia, PA. Singleton died at the age of 95 on Nov 12, 2003 in Sherman Oaks, CA .

BLONDIE:

Penny Singleton appeared in over 15 films during the 1930s including After the Thin Man and The Mad Miss Manton before hitting it big in 1938 when she starred as Blondie in the film of the same name. More Blondie films followed in rapid succession for a grand total of 28 in all from 1938 through 1950, as well as a popular radio show which aired from 1939 to 1950.

THE JETSONS:

Cartoon fans will probably recognize Singleton as the voice of space-age housewife, Jane Jetson from The Jetsons animated television series that originally aired from 1962-1963, then again in 1985 and 1987 for a total of 75 episodes.

Probably most well remembered today for her portrayal of the comic strip character "Blondie." She starred in 28 movies in this series during the years 1938-1950.
