MINI BIO:
Bony-faced Muriel Aked tended to play sourpusses, easily shocked spinsters, gossipy neighbors and grasping landladies. She hit her stride in British films with the coming of sound, trooping on and off in handfuls of scene-stealing cameos, noticeably in Rome Express, Trouble, and The Happiest Days of Your Life. She also played a running leading role, through 26 years, in the four screen versions of that old comedy chestnut, A Sister to Assist 'Er.
