MINI BIO:
Long-legged singing and dancing star with peppy personality and lots of snap and crackle. A teenage stage star, she was signed by Fox at 20, but didn't quite make the top musical rank, despite some fizzy performances. South Pacific seemed to give her a second chance, but she was more fizzle than fizz as Nellie Forbush, and thereafter performed mainly for night-clubs and TV. She was honored with one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures. Gaynor was never nominated for an Academy Award.
