MINI BIO:

Good-looking American actor in a threatening sort of way, the New Yorker enrolled in theatrical school as a teenager, but struggled along in stock before TV success in Tom Corbett, Space Cadet; he was the wisecracking cadet whose catchphrase "Go blow your jets" became a watchword for American children while the series ran from 1950 to 1955. When he won praise for a Broadway performance of Rope, a film contract with Universal-International followed. Despite effective appearances as blond menaces, Merlin didn't quite make the front rank there, and his best work continued to be for the theatre; film appearances have become more sporadic with the passing years.
